| 05/11/03 | Automotive Trade Show success on the way | Component suppliers are lining up for the first Automotive Trade show at the CV Show. The latest to join the party is LuK, whose sales and marketing director, Nigel Morgan says, 'In common with several major players, we missed the 2001 ATS, but the new concept is ideal for firms such as ours, with products for light commercials and car-derived vans in our range.' With virtually every garage equipment supplier exhibiting at the show, owners managers and technicians and service workshops will take at least a day at the Automotive Trade Show at the CV Show, giving component suppliers a great opportunity to meet new customers. There are over 500 exhibitors already signed up for the combined automotive trade and commercial vehicle shows, due to run from 23 to 25 March 2004 at the NEC. | 14/06/05 | Avia wins Royal Mail deal | Avia Truck UK says it has won a 75 truck order from Royal Mail. The firm will supply and support D75 model box bodied 7.5 tonners under the five-year contract. Each of the first 25 trucks will have 740ft3 box bodies by Derek Jones Bodyworks and a full closure cantilever tail-lift. | 19/08/04 | Avis Fleet Services renamed | GE Commercial Finance says its 12-year-old deal with Avis, under which GE's corporate fleet leasing and management division sold themselves as Avis Fleet Services, is to end. Avis Fleet Services will be renamed GE Commercial Finance Fleet Services in 11 European countries by January 2005. In the UK, GE Commercial Finance Fleet Services has a head office in Sale, near Manchester with 250 people and runs a 54,000 strong fleet and just appointed a new Managing director, Rich Green. The programme aims to help unemployed qualify as truck drivers and has helped 1,000 people to return to, or find work in the logistics industry. | 17/03/03 | Axle lift systems | KV Ltd, on stand 2-624 will show its main transport industry product range, including door systems for bus, coach and rail use and CV axle lift systems for a range vehicles. The axle list systems include a new electric and pneumatic lift system, designed to meet new European directives for trucks over 44 tonnes. | 10/06/03 | Axor reaches hire | Truck hire operator Dawsonrentals just ordered 100 more Axor tractors. The deal follows an order for 150 Axors late last year. Mercedes-Benz sy it expects several more 100 strong orders in the near future. Dawsonrentals runs more than 1,000 tractor units and is one of the UK’s biggest truck buyers. The company has Mercedes Atego rigids of various sizes on its fleet, but until the Axor order was placed all its recent tractor purchases had been DAF, Scania and Volvo. The latest trucks are a combination of 4x2 Axor 1843s and three-axled 2543s, all powered by 430bhp, 12-litre, straight-six engines, with nine-speed gearboxes. high-roof sleeper cabs, air management kits and air-conditioning. | 13/05/03 | Back in the UK with 'star of the show' | Pesci Cranes were back at the CV Show, courtesy of Crane Sales Limited, after a long absence. The company says the SPE 560/3 (56 t/m) Short Boom Machinery crane debut caused 'some excitement'. 'It was a great crowd puller for the stand,' said managing director Geoff Hindle. The company showed several of the new models and were more than pleased with its visitor response. The company says the SPE cranes are 'must haves' for anyone in the machinery moving industry and many earlier models are still in daily use in the UK after 25 years hard service.
