04/06/07European truckers database comingThe Freight Transport Association says that an EU wide database of truck operators should be working by 2010. It will link to national databases giving enforcement agencies the information they need to target the bad guys, those with a history of breaking the law. The result should be that if a firm loses its operating licence in one EU state, it will loose it in the lot. The FTA’s boss Richard Turner has campaigned for data sharing across Europe along these lines and welcomes the ‘free movement of enforcement’
